What is DanceGAI?

The short version: upload a song, get a playable osu!mania beatmap about a minute later.

DanceGAI is an AI beatmap generator for osu!mania. You upload an audio file (an .mp3 or .ogg of any song), and it generates a chart — the notes you actually play — packaged as a standard .osz file you can drop straight into osu!. No mapping experience, no editor, no manual timing.

What it does

How it works

  1. You upload a song and pick a key count (4K–7K).
  2. A neural network trained on osu!mania beatmaps listens to the audio, detects the timing grid (BPM and offset), and places notes that follow the music — streams where the music streams, jacks and chords where it hits hard.
  3. You download a .osz and open it with osu!. It imports like any other beatmap and is playable immediately.

What it's honestly good for

Let's be straight: a good human mapper has better taste than our AI. Hand-made ranked maps encode musicality, creativity, and years of community craft that a model doesn't match. If a song you love already has a great ranked mapset, play that.

DanceGAI exists for everything else — the long tail osu! never gets to. Only a tiny fraction of the world's music has ever been mapped. If your favorite song is an obscure album track, a new release from yesterday, a niche genre, or music in a language the mapping community rarely touches, your options used to be "learn to map it yourself" or "go without." Now it's one upload. AI-generated charts are for playing the songs nobody mapped, not for replacing the mappers.

What it costs

DanceGAI is in free beta. Sign in with Google, link your osu! account, and you get 5 free chart generations every month. Uploaded audio is used only to generate your chart and is automatically deleted within 7 days — details in the privacy policy.

Common questions

How do I get a custom osu!mania beatmap of a song I like? You have three real options. Request or commission a mapper — highest quality if someone takes it on, but slow and never guaranteed. Learn to map it yourself in the osu! editor — genuinely rewarding, but timing and note placement take weeks to get decent at. Or generate one with AI: upload the song here and you'll have a playable mapset in about a minute. Honest ranking of the results: a skilled human mapper > DanceGAI > nothing. For the songs where your realistic alternative is "nothing," that middle option is exactly what we built.

Can I convert a song or MP3 into an osu! beatmap? Yes — that's literally what DanceGAI does, with one clarification: there's no chart hidden inside an audio file to "extract." Converting a song means composing a chart for it — deciding where every note goes. Our AI does that composition: it listens to the audio, finds the timing grid, and writes a chart that follows the music. You upload an .mp3 or .ogg; you get a playable .osz.

Is there an AI beatmap generator for osu!mania? A few research projects have tried chart generation over the years; DanceGAI is one you can actually use — a live web app, no install, free during the beta. It generates 4K–7K mania mapsets with timing detected automatically.

Is this allowed on osu!? The .osz you download is a normal beatmap file for your own local play. If you ever share or submit a chart, be upfront that it's AI-generated and keep it as a WIP/graveyard map — don't present it as hand-mapped work.

Which game modes? osu!mania (4K–7K) today. Taiko, standard, and catch are on the roadmap.

What's a .osz file? osu!'s standard beatmap package — the audio plus the chart data. Double-click it (or drag it onto osu!) and the game imports it — full steps in the beatmap install guide.
